Defense Minister attends conference reviewing Hanoi defensive area exercise
PANO - On October 18, Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang attended a conference to review the Hanoi defensive area exercise in 2024.
The even was also attended by Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong.
According to the exercise’s organizing panel, all participating forces showed their responsibility, competence, and leadership to contribute to the success of the exercise with absolute safety.
The exercise aimed to raise the capacity in leading, commanding, staffing and coordinating in operations of all-level leadership, forces, as well as the competency, strength and combat readiness capabilities of participating forces. After the exercise, combat plans would be adjusted to get close to reality and lessons drawn would be a foundation to develop military art.
In her speech, Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai hailed the close coordination among units and agencies during the exercise; adding that the city’s authorities should further build a strong Hanoi defensive area and develop the socio-economy coupled with strengthening defense and security.

Meanwhile, the Party Committee and chains-of-command of the Hanoi Capital Command should continue to give recommendations and make proposals to local authorities to direct the implementation of military-defense missions and defensive area building, and promote competence and combat readiness posture of armed forces to deal with issues in any circumstances.
