In this live-fire event, an infantry regiment, reinforced with weapons and technical equipment, launched an offensive operation against the enemy in defensive posture. The event was conducted synchronously at National Shooting Range Region 1, Hoa Thach, Dong Doi and Xuan Bang shooting ranges.
The drill consisted of three stages, in which participating troops coordinated, using different operational forms, modern weapons and technical equipment, including those manufactured, produced, and improved by the military of Vietnam, and promoting information technology application.
Hanoi holds a specially-important strategic position, thus over the past time, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have pro-actively cooperated with ministries and central and Hanoi’s sectors and departments to direct the Hanoi defensive area exercise 2024, an important and a large-scale event.
This year’s exercise had new contents and the engagement of different forces. Attentively, this was the first time the Steering Committee of the exercise saw the participation of 28 units from different sectors, ministries and departments, showing their great attention to the defense-security and Fatherland protection tasks.
Carrying an important significance, the Hanoi defensive area exercise 2024 is one of the political tasks of the city and among activities in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day (October 10), the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35 years of the Whole-People Defense Festive Day.
Speaking after the exercise, General Phan Van Giang hailed and acknowledged great efforts of participating forces in completing their duties. He highlighted smooth coordination among forces, especially performance of infantry troops, saying that it showed their good training.
The defense chief affirmed that Hanoi had a successful exercise. He asked agencies and units to draw lessons, reward troops, and check technical conditions of weapons and equipment.
