General Ngo Xuan Lich, member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the CMC and Defense Minister, chaired the event, with the presence of Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army.

According to the decisions signed by the State President, one major general was promoted to lieutenant general, while four others were promoted to the rank of major general.

Meanwhile, under the decisions signed by the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister, 23 senior officers were promoted to major commanding positions in functional agencies and units directly under the command of the MND.

On behalf of the State President and the Prime Minister, General Lich handed over those decisions to the recipients.

In his speech, the defense minister congratulated the promoted and appointed officers, adding that the promotion and appointment show the recognition by the Party, State, CMC, and MND of the officers’ dedication and contribution to the Vietnam People’s Army.

He also requested them to continue to heighten their revolutionary morality, political stance, knowledge and leadership capacity in order to accomplish excellently their assigned tasks, contributing more to the military and the country.
