The Border Post of Cha Lo International Border Gate facilitates quick and convenient immigration procedures for travelers. |
In recent years, the Border Post of Cha Lo International Border Gate has actively grasped the situation and given advice to the Border Guard Command of the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command to enhance the efficiency of border management and settlement of arising issues. Officers and soldiers regularly inspect the handling of entry and exit procedures and facilitate the safe and lawful movement of people and goods.
In early November, trading activities at the border gate were vibrant, with about 300–400 vehicles passing daily. Major exports and imports include iron ore, potassium fertilizer, gypsum, fruits, and garments. Despite the high volume, traffic is well-regulated with no congestion.
The Border Post of Cha Lo International Border Gate works closely with the Customs Sub-department to streamline administrative procedures, ensuring fast and convenient clearance for people, vehicles, and goods. The two forces regularly exchange information and enhance inspection to effectively prevent smuggling, trade fraud, and cross-border crimes.
Major Pham Tung Viet, Head of the Border Post of Cha Lo International Border Gate, said that during peak periods, the unit increases personnel and extends working hours to ensure quick processing while strictly following legal regulations. In 2025 alone, the station has handled procedures for more than 340,000 individuals, including nearly 4,000 third-country nationals, and over 200,000 vehicles.
The growing flow of goods and travelers has turned Cha Lo into a highlight in Quang Binh Province’s economic development. Driver Tran Van Cuong from Nam Bo Mining Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (Micco) shared that officers and soldiers at the gate work quickly and provide clear guidance, helping goods circulate smoothly without long delays.
Toward the end of the year, trade activities often surge, creating opportunities for smugglers to transport banned goods, especially foreign-made fireworks. To counter increasingly sophisticated tricks, such as hiding contraband within legal shipments or containers, border guard and customs forces have intensified patrols, tightened inspection, and strengthened coordination to promptly detect and strictly handle violations.
Senior Captain Luu Duc Tien, Head of the Inspection and Supervision Team of Cha Lo International Border Gate, emphasized that while procedures are being streamlined to support trade and travel, ensuring border security remains the top priority. “Our goal is to keep the border stable, prevent unexpected incidents, and maintain order and safety in the border area,” he said.
