The Vietnamese delegation was welcomed by Sr. Capt. Zhao Yanwu, commanding officer of the Chinese Navy’s missile frigate flotilla, and Sr. Capt. Wangtao, Political Commissar of the flotilla.

During the reception, Sr. Capts. Zhao Yanwu and Wangtao expressed their confidence that with the thorough preparations of both sides, the exchange activities and joint patrol would be successfully concluded, contributing to further strengthening cooperation, mutual understanding, and trust between the two militaries and navies.

For his part, Sr. Capt. Do Minh expressed his delight at the Chinese side’s warm welcome, underlining that the exchange program will contribute to implementing the common understanding reached by the senior leaders of the two parties and countries on promoting more substantive defense-security cooperation.

He believed that the two sides would coordinate closely to successfully carry out the exchange activities at port and the 38th joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin.

As planned, both sides will organize sport activities, ship tours, and jointly finalize the plan to report to the Ministers of National Defense of both countries on the outcomes of the exchange and joint patrol.
