The event was also co-chaired by Lao Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Vongkham Phommakone.

At the event, Gen. Chien praised the theme of the seminar and applauded the functional agencies of the two military, especially the youth organizations of the two General Departments of Political Affairs, for their close coordination in the organization of meaningful exchange activities.

He also highlighted the important role of youth in both countries during the struggle against oppression and in the liberation of their nations, and emphasized their continued role as the vanguard force in implementing the Party’s guidelines and policies and the State’s laws today.

The Vietnamese defense leader hoped that in the time to come, military youths of the two countries would continue to deeply understand the history and significance of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; enhance exchange and share experience on youth work; promote exchange and twinning activities; organize revolutionary movements to build and multiply typical models; promote the vanguard and creative spirits of the youths to continue to make contribution to the cause of national construction and protection of each country; and cultivate the Vietnam-Lao ties, especially the defense cooperation, which should remain a bright spot and one of the most important pillars of bilateral relations.

Gen. Chien affirmed that the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam would always create the most favorable conditions for the youths of both militaries to strengthen their ties as comrades and brothers, while encouraging youths from both countries to actively coordinate in organizing exchange programs.

On the occasion, Gen. Chien sent thanks to the Ministry of National Defense and leaders of provinces in Laos in general and those in Luang Prabang province in particular for facilitating exchanges and cooperation between young officers of the two countries. He also expressed his hope that they would continue to support and promote these meaningful activities in the future.

That same evening, Gen. Chien and the delegation attended the wrist-tying ceremony and the campfire night of the Vietnam-Laos Young Officers Exchange Program.
