As planned, the frigate, captained by Senior Colonel Le Hong Chien, Deputy Commander of the Naval Region 4 Command, visits Yokosuka Naval Base and Sakai city in Osaka Prefecture from September 27 to October 6.
The Vietnamese naval vessel was welcomed by Colonel Sasaki, Head of the Administrative Office of Yokosuka Naval Base.
Later, the Vietnamese naval troops paid courtesy visits to the Mayor of Yokosuka City, Commander of Yokosuka Naval Base, Commander of Yokosuka Coast Guards, and Yokosuka Police Chief.
During the meetings, Senior Colonel Chien expressed his thanks for the warm receptions hosted by the Japanese city’s relevant agencies, and said that the visit is to realize the foreign policy of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese State on national defense and military affairs, contributing to cementing the friendship and cooperation and building mutual trust with Japanese partners.
It is also to mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties and to implement the joint vision statement on defense relations between the two defense ministries in the next decade.

For their part, representatives of the Yokosuka City’s leadership and relevant agencies expressed delight at welcoming the Vietnamese frigate and naval officers.
They wished the guests to have memorable experiences during their stay in Japan, and believed that the visit would contribute to further expanding cooperation between the two militaries and navies as well as building each side’s sea of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
During their stay in Japan, Vietnamese naval troops will have sport exchange activities with their Japanese peers at Yokosuka Naval Base. The two sides will visit each side’ vessels and hold banquets under the international naval routines.
