The visit was both a diplomatic activity marking the foundation day of the Vietnam People’s Army and an occasion of appreciation and farewell ahead of the Vietnamese officers’ completion of their term of duty at the mission and return home.

At the meeting, representatives of the Vietnamese delegation expressed their gratitude to Lieutenant General Mohan and UNMISS for their continued attention, close coordination, and favorable conditions that have enabled Vietnamese forces to successfully fulfill the tasks assigned by the U.N. The two sides reviewed and assessed key outcomes of their cooperation in recent times, particularly in the areas of security assurance, support for local authorities and communities, and strengthened coordination among military, police, and civilian components in a multinational environment.
The Force Commander of UNMISS acknowledged and highly commended the sense of responsibility, discipline, professional conduct, and effective coordination demonstrated by Vietnamese personnel at UNMISS. He affirmed that Vietnamese officers have not only fulfilled their professional duties with distinction but also left a strong impression through the image of Vietnamese soldiers who are resilient, humane, respectful of local culture, and strictly compliant with international standards, thereby making practical contributions to the mission’s overall task accomplishment.
Over the years, leaders of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) have repeatedly visited UNMISS to work with and encourage Vietnamese personnel, while also presenting gifts to the Mission’s leadership. These activities reflect the close attention of the MND’s leadership to forces performing international duties, while clearly underscoring the requirements to maintain strong political resolve, strictly observe discipline and standards of conduct, and uphold the image of the Vietnam People’s Army in a multinational environment.
Building on this guiding spirit, during the current term, external relations activities at UNMISS have continued to be carried out in a systematic, unified, and effective manner. This demonstrates continuity and consistency in Vietnam’s defense diplomacy policy, and contributes to strengthening cooperation and mutual trust between Vietnam and UNMISS.

With this spirit, Vietnamese officers at UNMISS have affirmed their determination to continue upholding political stance, a strong sense of responsibility, and strict discipline, fulfilling all assigned tasks until the end of their term, while leaving lasting positive impressions on the mission’s leadership, international colleagues, and local authorities and communities.
