During the visit, the Vietnamese defense delegation worked with a Russian defense delegation led by Major General A. Buduskin, Deputy-Chief of the Russian Army. At the meeting, the host highlighted remarkable results of the bilateral defense cooperation between Vietnam and Russia over the past time, saying that the good bilateral defense cooperation had strengthen the traditional friendly relations between the two militaries and countries.
He also hailed the efforts of the two sides in boosting cooperation on UN peacekeeping operations, considering that the two sides still have much potential for cooperation in this field.
The guest highly appreciated the contributions of Russia to UN peacekeeping operation over the past time, stressing that the country had contributed significantly to maintaining peace and security in the world.

General Minh briefed the guest on the initial positive results of Vietnam in UN peacekeeping operations and the country’s plans to participate in UN peacekeeping operations in the future.
The host showed his admiration when learning that Vietnam would deploy a level-2 field hospital to South Sudan in the coming time although the country only started to officially participate in UN peacekeeping operations in 2014.
The two sides agreed to give priority to the cooperation on UN peacekeeping operations and add this issue to the agendas for the next Vietnam-Russia defense dialogues.
They also agreed that involved agencies and units under the two defense ministries should enhance practical activities with the aim of effectively implementing the memorandum of understanding on UN peacekeeping operations signed by the two defense ministries in November 2017. Particularly, the two sides will increase exchange of delegations of defense officials and experts on UN peacekeeping operations and invite peacekeepers of one country to participate in training courses held by the other country.
Both sides vowed to support each other in multilateral mechanisms.
Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, will give advice to Vietnam to deploy its sapper company to an appropriate UN peacekeeping mission, and share with the Vietnamese side its experience in clearing unexploded explosives under the International Min Action Standard as well as in giving first aid to injured sappers.
The host said that Russia would send a delegation of experts from the Russian Army to Vietnam to share experiences in UN peacekeeping operations with the Vietnamese side.
During the visit, General Minh and his entourage also paid calls on the famous Russian military academy of Frunze, the Russia International Peace Keeping Center, the Anti-Mine Center and the Vietnamese Embassy and Defense Attache’s Office in Russia.
