Vietnam, RoK further improve defense cooperation
PANO – Over recent years, Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) have been enjoying developments in their bilateral relations in various fields, including defense cooperation.
This was underlined by Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief-of-the-General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy-Defense Minister, at the reception for General Kim Yong-woo, Chief-of-Staff of the RoK Army in Hanoi on November 30.
At the meeting, General Kim briefed General Giang on the outcomes of his talks earlier with Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Vice-Chief of the VPA’s General Staff.

The Korean general hoped that the two Defense Ministries should continuously create favorable conditions for their armies to boost cooperation in accordance with their signed agreements.
Having highly lauded the talks’ results, General Giang believed that the visit to Vietnam by General Kim and Korean military high-ranking officers will contribute to promoting the friendship and mutual understanding and trust between the two militaries.
In the coming times, the two sides should further increase defense cooperation in delegation exchanges at all levels, education and training, information technology, UN peacekeeping missions, defense industry, and overcoming consequences left behind by the war in Vietnam.
Within the framework of the visit to Vietnam, the Korean delegation visited several units of the Vietnam People’s Army, offered incense to late General Vo Nguyen Giap at his house at 30 Hoang Dieu Street, Hanoi, and toured the Vietnam Military History Museum.
