At the meeting, both sides highly appreciated the outcomes of the bilateral defense cooperation over the past time, affirming that the obtained results have positively contributed to maintaining peace, stability, and development in each country, strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, states, and two militaries.

The two deputy defense ministers exchanged updated information regarding the preparation for the 2nd Vietnam-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange, which will take place in Vietnam’s Son La province and Laos’ Houaphanh province from October 22 to 23.
According to Gen. Chien, from September 30 to October 1, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and Son La provincial authorities conducted a review of the preparation for the exchange. The two deputy ministers appreciated the pro-active preparation made by the relevant agencies and agreed that they would co-chair a rehearsal on October 21 to ensure that the activities will proceed as planned, contributing to the success of the exchange.
The two defense leaders also discussed and agreed on several important upcoming activities, including the annual meeting among the Defense Ministers of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, along with related activities in Cambodia in November; the Vietnam-Laos Defense Policy Dialogue in Laos’ Luang Prabang, slated for the first quarter of 2025; the Vietnamese and Lao Young Officers Exchange in 2025; and several other activities.
On this occasion, Gen. Chien suggested Laos continue to support the cooperative activities of the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) and the agencies and units of the Lao Ministry of Defense and endorse high-tech defense industrial products researched and produced by Viettel.
