Vietnam hosts the first training courses on defense external relations for Lao officers
PANO – The Department of Foreign Relations of the Ministry of National Defense kicked off the first training course on defense external relations for officers of the Laos People’s Army at Unit 871 of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army on September 23.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Senior Colonel Le Duc Cuong, Head of the Department of General Planning, emphasized the significance of the training course and the need for the two countries to share experience in defense external relations.
Cuong said that in the context of complicated developments in the region and world, defense external relations agencies of the two countries should promote their special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.
He emphasized that the two sides should build a contingent of officers good at general knowledge, essential diplomatic skills, and foreign languages to meet requirements for external defense relations mission in the current globalization context.
During the 20-day course, the Lao trainees will be updated with international and regional situations, Vietnam’s foreign and defense policies, and military-defense cooperation among ASEAN member nations. They will also learn the International Law on border, territory, navigation, and aviation as well as skills to conduct external activities.
