Vietnam, Cambodia tighten military cooperation
PANO - A Vietnamese high-ranking defense delegation, led by Sr. Lt. Gen. Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Deputy Defense Minister, concluded their four-day official visit to Cambodia on November 2.
The visit was made at the invitation of Gen. Vong Pisen, Commander-in-chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF).
During his stay, Sr. Lt. Gen. Giang paid courtesy visits on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Tea Banh. At the receptions, the hosts warmly welcomed the guests and laid stress on the significance of the Vietnamese high-ranking defense delegation’s visit, saying it would help accelerate the implementation of the agreements signed between leaders of the two countries and the two militaries, thus contributing to consolidating the bilateral ties.

In their talks, Sr. Lt. Gen. Giang and Gen. Vong Pisen, the two senior officers of Vietnam and Cambodia, applauded the cooperation results over the past time and discussed measures to promote solidarity, delegation exchanges and mutual support in the time to come.
In the framework of the visit, Sr. Lt. Gen. Giang laid wreaths at the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Monument, visited Brigade 70, and met with the personnel from the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia. The Vietnamese and Cambodian defense ministries also organized a ceremony to present Vietnam’s Friendship Order to units and individuals of the RCAF.
The Vietnam high-ranking defense delegation returned to Hanoi on the evening of November 2, successfully wrapping up its official visit to Cambodia.
