The visit was made at the invitation of Senior General Kirth Chantharith, Director of the General Department of Immigration of the Cambodian Ministry of Interior.

During the visit, the Vietnam delegation attended an annual conference to exchange experience in maintaining security and social order along the shared borderline with the Cambodian General Department of Immigration.

They agreed to enhance information sharing to promptly deal with arising issues, collaborate to manage border gates and immigration procedures, support locals’ trade, and fight cross-border crimes.

The same day, the Vietnamese border guard commander had talks with General Hun Manet, Commander the Royal Cambodian Army, to review the two sides’ collaboration in 2018 and discuss their 2019 plan. 

The two generals expressed their delight at the strong development of the relations between the Vietnam People’s Army and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in general and the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Royal Cambodian Army Command in particular.

The two sides have promoted their coordination in protecting border security over the past time, contributing to building the Vietnam-Cambodia borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

They concurred to continue effectively implementing the protocol on bilateral defense cooperation in 2019 and other signed agreements. Both sides also wanted to expedite the border demarcation and landmark erection, promote information dissemination among border people, maintain information sharing and joint border patrols to deal with border security issues in the time to come.
