A view of the experience sharing event

This is the fifth time that Vietnam and Australia have held experience sharing activities concerning women, peace, and security. The two countries have successfully organized four previous experience-sharing activities on this theme in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023, with practical results that have contributed to promoting the role and effective participation of women in U.N. peacekeeping operations.

During the fifth event, experts from Vietnam and Australia focused on sharing and discussing various contents including the role of female U.N. peacekeepers, methods to create a better working environment for female peacekeepers, and enhancing the role of men in supporting women, peace, and security in conducting peacekeeping operations.

Speaking at the event, Col. Canh highlighted that in August 2024, Vietnam adopted its first National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security, demonstrating Vietnam's determination and commitment to ensuring and further promoting the role and voice of women, especially in the field of peace and security. Australia has been a leading supporter and contributor to the adoption of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security, the first official and legal document in this area. Over the past years, the two countries have frequently shared expertise and experience in this field and supported each other in promoting the women, peace, and security agenda at multilateral forums.
