During the meeting, Maj. Gen. Dam Xuan Tuan briefed the delegation on the functions and duties of the Vietnamese coast guard force and highlighted the strong development in the cooperation between the two coast guard forces. He also introduced the Coast Guard Training Center under the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, which was established in April 2013 and plays a key role in training personnel in various technical specialties related to coast guard operations.

Gen. Tuan expressed confidence that the officers and cadets from the Philippine Coast Guard Academy would become a vital bridge to further strengthen the relationship between the two forces, particularly in the areas of research, professional exchange, and education.

For her part, Charlyne O. Tantong emphasized that the Philippine delegation's visit to Vietnam aimed at enhancing their knowledge and experience in the coast guard sector. She expressed a desire for even stronger cooperation between the two forces, especially in education and training, through future officer and cadet exchanges.

As part of their visit, the Philippine delegation will visit the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the National Defense Academy, pay a courtesy call on the Vietnam Coast Guard leadership, tour the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center, and tour Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh province.
