Vietnam and Laos to promote signal cooperation
PANO – The Signal Corps Command hosted a reception for and held talks with a delegation from the Department of Information of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army, led by its Deputy Director, Lieutenant Colonel Phuovieng Chanthavong, on June 25 in Hanoi.
At the talks, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Signal Corps, Senior Colonel Le Dung expressed delight at the visit of the Lao delegation and at the consolidation and fine development of the Vietnam-Laos relationship in general and defense cooperation in particular.
Following the guidelines of the Parties, States and Defense Ministries of the two countries, the Signal Corps Command of Vietnam and Laos’ Department of Information have proactively fostered their cooperation in technology exchange, software projects, electronics and telecommunications software development, IT and training of high-quality human resources for military and defense missions.
For his part, the Lao head delegate thanked the Vietnamese side for the warm reception and highlighted the coordination outcomes between the two units and thanked the Vietnamese signal corps for its wholehearted support for Laos’ military signal sector. He hoped that the two sides will work together in building a sound coordination plan and effectively implement coordination fields of mutual concern.
After the talks, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in setting up a communication line between the Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of Defense.
On the occasion, the Lao delegation visited the Information Operating Center and took a look at some mobile signal devices and high-tech military equipment of the command.
