This is seen as an important multilateral forum for Chiefs of Army of ASEAN countries to share their views on the regional and international situations and discuss measures to promote cooperation in areas of common concern among land forces of ASEAN countries.

At ACAMM-17, Chiefs of Army of ASEAN member countries expressed their deep concern over emerging non-traditional security threats, such as terrorism, transnational crimes, human and drug trafficking, natural disasters, climate change and contagious diseases.

Delegates agreed that land forces of ASEAN countries should strengthen cooperation in information and intelligence information sharing and joint exercises on humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief in the coming time to respond effectively and on time to the above-mentioned challenges.

At the meeting, participants also discussed and highly agreed on the proposal of the Philippine delegation on the establishment of a working group for ACAMM. The heads of the delegations also signed a paper on ACAMM’s protocols.

On the sidelines of the event, the Vietnamese military delegation had meetings with the Philippine, Lao, Cambodian and Brunei delegations. At these meetings, the head delegates all emphasized the need to bolster bilateral defense cooperation and bilateral cooperation between the two land forces.

Within the framework of the event, the Vietnamese military delegation attended the closing ceremony of the 26th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet. The Vietnamese shooting team at the 26th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet bagged one gold medal in the machine gun category and one silver medal in the women’s pistol category.
