PANO - The USS John S. McCain of the US Navy docked at Tien Sa port, Da Nang city on September 28, beginning a four-day friendly visit to the city.

At Tien Sa port, 23 officers, 315 non-commissioned officers and crew members were welcomed by representatives of the Department of Foreign Relations under the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense, the Naval Region 3 Command, the Da Nang municipal Border Guard Command, the US Embassy in Vietnam, and relevant agencies.

During the stay, the American guests will pay courtesy visits to leaders of the municipal People’s Committee and the Naval Region 3 Command. In addition, US naval officers will join Vietnamese counterparts in public activities and sports exchanges, and visit several historical and tourist sites in the city.

At the end of the visit, the US ship and the Vietnam People's Navy’s ship will join the seventh-annual Naval Engagement Activity (NEA), which will focus on a Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES). The event will also include symposia on military medicine and maritime law, subject-matter expert exchanges in navigation, shipboard medicine and damage control and community services events.
