Preparations for the departure ceremony scheduled for the morning of September 22 have been completed in all aspects, including protocol, ceremonial procedures, decorations, the program script, and security and safety measures. During the rehearsal, the delegation inspected the preparations, the reception area for delegates and the ceremonial venue, ensuring that all activities would be carried out according to plan. The organizing committee also conducted a full run-through of the program in accordance with the prepared script to ensure that the departure ceremony would be held in a thorough, solemn and absolutely safe manner.

An overview of the event

Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang praised the Viet Nam Department of Peacekeeping Operations and relevant agencies and units for their proactive preparations for the departure ceremony. He emphasized the significance of Viet Nam continuing to deploy units to participate in U.N. peacekeeping operations in South Sudan and Abyei, reaffirming Viet Nam’s commitment to increasingly pro-active and responsible participation in the common mission.

He also instructed them to maintain close coordination and make the best preparations in terms of personnel, vehicles and equipment in accordance with U.N. standards to successfully carry out their missions in the field, while ensuring that the two units would depart as scheduled. He also requested relevant agencies and units to coordinate with the Australian Embassy and Australian Defense Attaché in Hanoi to support the transportation of L2FH Rotation 8 to the UNMISS and the return of L2FH Rotation 7 to homeland.
