This trip is part of a nine-month Vietnamese language training program for 120 officers of the Lao People's Army in 2023 at Regiment 754 of the Son La Provincial Military Command.
The trainees explored and learned about historical sites, scenic spots, and the socio-economic development models of the locality, including the Regiment 52 (Tay Tien Regiment) memorial site, Moc Ly Post historical site, Long Sap International Border Gate, the Vietnam-Laos Revolutionary Historical Site, the Son La Hydropower Plant, and more.

Lieutenant Vithakhone Thongven, a Lao military trainee, shared that he was delighted to have an opportunity to visit Moc Chau district. When returning to Laos, he will apply acquired experiences to contribute to better performing his future work, Thongven added.
During their visits to these sites, Lao trainees delved into the achievements of the Tay Tien troops, the heroic history of the Vietnamese people in the resistance war against the French colonialists and the indomitable spirit and sacrifices of the leaders of both nations. This visit aimed to strengthen the Vietnamese language skills of Lao trainees and deepen their understanding of Vietnam’s land, people, and military.

Over the nine-month program, Lao trainees honed their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Vietnamese, as well as understanding military terminology.
Senior Colonel Nguyen Do Phu, Deputy Political Commissar of the Son La Provincial Military Command, emphasized that this journey not only helped enhance Lao trainees' proficiency in Vietnamese but also their understanding of the country, culture, and people of Vietnam, especially the ethnic minority groups living in Son La province.

The trip also equipped the trainees with fundamental knowledge applicable to their future tasks, actively contributing to the local economic development and reinforcing national defense and security. Furthermore, it helped foster friendship between the Son La Provincial Military Command and the Military Commands of Laos’ Northern provinces, as well as strengthen ties between Son La province and other Lao localities.
