The ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere, demonstrating the strong spirit of Vietnam–Laos solidarity and special friendship. It reaffirmed the commitment of both border protection forces to working closely in maintaining political security and social order along the shared border section.
Under the signed agreement, the units will maintain regular information exchange, particularly on issues related to border management, immigration, cross-border activities of residents, and any unexpected incidents in the area. Both sides agreed to hold regular meetings and joint patrols to protect border markers and to cooperate in preventing and combating crimes, especially drug trafficking, smuggling, and illegal border crossings.
Speaking at the ceremony, leaders from both sides affirmed that the twinning event served as an opportunity for the border guard forces of the two countries to strengthen strategic trust and build a “shield” to protect the border early and from afar. It also aimed to link defense and security tasks with socio-economic development in border areas, contributing to building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.
