The event was seen as a highlight of the visit of the two Indonesian Sigma-class corvettes to the Vietnamese Navy and Ho Chi Minh City.

At the exchange with the participation of 40 young Vietnamese and Indonesian naval officers and cadets, representatives of the two groups briefed the participants on the history, tradition and development of their navies.

They also shared their interests, future plans and ambitions and exchanged experience in training, learning and dealing with various situations at sea under international law.

In the cultural and music exchange, all young Vietnamese and Indonesian naval officers and cadets joined singing and dancing in an enthusiastic and joyful manner. In their songs and dances, they praise the culture, tradition and beauty of their countries, and together sang and danced songs and music about ASEAN and international friendship.

Jalu, a fourth-year cadet of the Indonesian Naval Academy said that all Indonesian naval officers and cadets have been impressed by this visit to Vietnam.

He went on to say: “Our experiences in Ho Chi Minh City will be our unforgettable memories. The exchange between young Vietnamese and Indonesian naval officers and cadets is great. Vietnamese naval officers and cadets are all friendly and sincere to us. The visit and related activities have helped us improve our knowledge and skills, and promoted friendship between the two nations and navies of the two countries. We hope to return to Vietnam again in the future to exchange with our Vietnamese friends.”

At 7.30 am on October 21, 2017, the two Indonesian Sigma-class missile ships left Nha Rong port, Ho Chi Minh City, successfully concluding their friendly visit to Vietnam.
