At the reception, Gen. Ngoc highlighted the guest’s visit which took place on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties and the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year 2025. He expressed confidence that the visit would further promote the traditional solidarity and special friendship between the two nations and the cooperative ties between the Vietnamese MND and MINFAR.

The host expressed his delight at the increasingly positive, substantive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam - Cuba bilateral cooperation across all fields. He noted that the recent state visit to Vietnam by the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba further strengthened the partnership between the two sides in economy, politics, defense, security, and more.

He stressed that within the overall Vietnam - Cuba relationship, defense cooperation remains one of the key pillars, contributing to consolidating the time-honored solidarity and special friendship between the two nations.

The Vietnamese general underlined the recent talks between Vietnamese Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang and his Cuban counterpart Sr. Lt. Gen. Álvaro López Miera, during which they signed a defense cooperation plan for the 2026-2028 period, providing a road-map to effectively implement cooperative activities in the time to come.

He also highly praised the growing ties between the Hanoi Capital Command and Havana Military Region. He believed that the twinning ties between the two units established during this visit would help deepen bilateral cooperation in line with the needs and strengths of each side.

He affirmed that the General Staff would create conditions for the two units to realize activities under the twinning agreement. He directed Military Region 5 to coordinate with the Western Army Group to study and propose effective and practical cooperative activities, paving the way towards signing a twinning agreement.

For his part, Lt. Gen. Ernest Feijóo Eiró expressed his joy at attending the 80th National Day grand ceremony, and congratulated Vietnam on the successful organization of this historic event.
