General Quyet emphasized that Vietnam has always cherished the profound support and assistance from Cuba. In the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year in 2025, held to mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee launched a nationwide campaign to mobilize support for the Cuban people in overcoming challenges and difficulties. The program received enthusiastic responses from millions of the Vietnamese people. This was not only an act of solidarity, but also a profound expression of gratitude and enduring faithfulness toward the Cuban people and nation.

Cooperation in Party and political work between the Vietnam People’s Army and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba has recently achieved important results. Notably, the two sides have completed and handed over volumes 4 and 5 of the documentary series “Two hearts beat as one,” which has helped spread the traditional solidarity and special friendship between the two countries and their militaries.

He added that the GDP will direct its agencies and units to comprehensively implement the cooperation contents and hoped that the two sides would work closely to enhance communications in celebration of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations so that the people and younger generations of both countries, as well as international friends, can better understand the history, traditions, and special bond between Vietnam and Cuba.

For his part, General Álvaro López Miera highlighted that bilateral defense cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba has yielded positive results in many fields, including Party and political work.

The Vietnamese defense leader said that over the past 65 years, the relationship between the two countries has been tested through the challenges of history. He expressed his deep emotion when personally handing over volumes 4 and 5 of the documentary “Two hearts beat as one” to Cuba during his recent official visit to the country. He noted that the series is not just an ordinary documentary, but rather the crystallization of two hearts beating as one, united in their aspirations for independence, freedom, peace, and development.

General Cuong added that in the coming time, the Vietnamese General Staff will actively direct relevant agencies and units to comprehensively implement the three-year Defense Cooperation Plan for the 2026-2028 period.

Discussing defense cooperation between the two countries, General Miera expressed his hope that both sides would continue to promote collaboration in areas of their potential and demand. He affirmed his determination to make every effort to strengthen the close bonds between the armed forces of Vietnam and Cuba.
