PANO - The French Naval Ship Tonnerre will visit Cam Ranh Port, Khanh Hoa province, from May 2nd to 6th.

Tonnerre is a multifunctional command and landing ship, and one of the largest vessels of the French Navy. Tonnerre serves as command headquarters at sea, helicopter carrier, and hospital ship. It also carries troops and weapons.

Around 200 officers of the French navy and other countries' naval forces will join the delegation.

This event will take place before the visits of the French Defense Minister and the French President this autumn. It signals a new chapter in the two armies' increasing cooperation.

During the visit, the French crew will participate in various activities and meet with Vietnamese authorities of all levels. The visit will nurture bilateral friendship and defense relations between the two countries.

A press conference will be held when the ship arrives at Cam Ranh Port on May 2nd.
