The request was made by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defense Minister, at a meeting held by the Ministry of National Defense’s Steering Committee for External Information Service on December 24 in Hanoi.

At the meeting

General Vinh added that military and civilian agencies should promote cooperation in disseminating information about defense external affairs with a focus on activities to mark the 75th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-Cuba defense ties, Vietnam’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations and overcoming war consequences and ASEAN defense and security meetings as Vietnam takes over the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020.

At the event, delegates evaluated that in 2018, military agencies and units, especially the military press and media have effectively covered activities related to defense external affairs, including the fifth Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange, Vietnam’s deployment of its first level-two field hospital to the UN Mission in South Sudan and the anniversary marking the completion of the project on the environmental remediation of dioxin contamination at Da Nang Airport.

Delegates also proposed raising the quality and efficiency of dissemination of defense external affairs in the coming time.
