On this occasion, General Chien congratulated Ambassador Amal Salama on her new position in Vietnam and wished the newly-appointed ambassador success in her working term in Vietnam.

He also hoped that the Egyptian Ambassador will make contribution to maintaining and promoting Vietnam-Egypt bilateral defense cooperation, for the sake of each country as well as peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The deputy defense minister underscored that Egypt is one of Vietnam’s active partners in Africa and the two countries has great potential for development in defense cooperation. He urged both sides to beef up defense relations in many fields, such as delegation exchanges, establishment of a mechanism to share information on security-political, economic-social situations in Africa in the coming time, so as to help Vietnam best prepare for its participation in the U.N. peacekeeping operations.

For her part, Ambassador Amal Salama noted that Egypt hopes to bolster cooperation with Vietnam in this field, asking to enhance cooperation in the fields like high-ranking delegation exchanges, information sharing, teaching of Vietnamese and Arabic, and defense industry, among others.
