The Defense Minister emphasized that the bilateral defense cooperation is one of the important pillars of the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship. Based on annual protocols and cooperation plans, the bilateral defense cooperation has increasingly been practical and effective. It plays a crucial role in the national construction and defense cause of both nations.
The defense ministries of both countries have successfully coordinated to organize various meaningful activities, notably the commemoration of the of the 45th anniversary of Samdech Techo Hun Sen's “Journey to overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime,” the first-ever border defense friendship exchange between Vietnam and Cambodia, the repatriation of 49 sets of martyrs’ remains of the Cambodia's united armed forces for national salvation, and the annual meeting among the defense ministers of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

General Phan Van Giang expressed his hope that both sides will continue enhancing bilateral defense cooperation through delegation exchanges, especially at higher levels, with a focus on strategic issues that they are concerned about. This approach aims to find effective solutions to contribute to the overall relationship between the two nations. The defense ministries of both countries should closely collaborate and effectively prepare for the upcoming first border defense friendship exchange between Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia at the ministerial level.
General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense highly appreciates the significant contribution made by the Cambodian Embassy in Vietnam to the overall Vietnam-Cambodia relationship and, in particular, to the bilateral defense cooperation in recent years. The Defense Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese defense ministry would create the most favorable conditions for Ambassador Chea Kimtha to fulfill her mission, contributing to further deepening the relationship between the two countries and their armed forces, aiming for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

Ambassador Chea Kimtha, for her part, underscored that defense cooperation is one of the crucial pillars of the Cambodia-Vietnam relations. She expressed her gratitude to Vietnam in general, and the Vietnam People's Army in particular, for their unwavering support to and companionship with Cambodian-organized events. She hoped that the Cambodia-Vietnam relations will develop in all areas, and the defense cooperation continues to played the role as a significant pillar of their bilateral ties.
