Cuban senior officers visit Naval Brigade 147
PANO – A senior delegation of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba, led by its Chief of the General Staff and First Deputy Minister Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera visited Naval Brigade 147 of Naval Region 1 on September 15.
Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, joined the delegation.

The Cuban officers’ delegation visited the technical area of Brigade 147, where the Cuba-sponsored weapon and equipment preservation technology has been applied. Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera praised the efforts and creativeness of the officers and technical staff of the Vietnam People Army. He believed that the two militaries’ comprehensive cooperation, including technical maintenance for weapons and equipment would be further enhanced in the time to come.
On behalf of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien thanked the support of the Party, State, military and people of Cuba during Vietnam’s national resistance war against American invaders in the past as well as the current national construction and defense cause .
He held that the Cuba’s assistance of weapon and equipment preservation technology for the Vietnam People’s Army manifested the long-lasting friendship and solidarity as well as mutual support between the two sides. He hoped that the Cuban technical staff would continue exchanging experience with Vietnamese friends so as to fulfill their assigned missions in the current context.
