PANO – Mongolian Ambassador to Vietnam D. Enkhbat, at a press conference to introduce information about the land and people of Mongolia to Vietnam, remarked that trade between Vietnam and Mongolia should be expanded as it has not yet lived up to the two countries’ potential.
The Mongolian ambassador pointed out that the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1954 and trade has been one of the most important fields of bilateral cooperation. In 2014, the two-way trade reached USD 28.1 million, up by 57% compared to 2010. However, the value is still modest as compared with cooperation potential, the ambassador stressed. Mongolia hopes to see more Vietnamese businesses joining big projects in Mongolia, particularly focusing on coal exploitation and infrastructure construction.
Also at the press conference, Ambassador D. Enkhbat informed attendees that in 2016 Mongolia will host the 11th ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting). This is the first time Mongolia has ever held this event and related agencies of the country are actively preparing for the event.
