The first online event hosted by the UN aimed to encourage young Vietnamese people to discuss and share issues and social challenges of their concern as well as their aspirations.

Speaking at the event, UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Kamal Malhotra said the forum is part of the activities that celebrate the 75th anniversary of foundation day of the UN (1945-2020).

During the forum, participating youths discussed ideas and solutions relating to climate change and the environment, social equality, the strength of music, and the future that the younger generation expect. The discussed topics were selected from the “You talk, we listen” online survey conducted earlier with the participation of more than 800 young people aged from 16 to 26 from 59 cities and provinces across the country.

Participants also highlighted the role of youths in addressing those challenges through their opinions and recommendations.

Affirming the goal of targeting all people, in January 2020, the UN announced the initiative to organize a global dialogue, themed “UN75 Youth Forum,” to create a favorable condition for youths to share their opinions and aspirations as well as current social challenges.
