The insignia was to acknowledge the ambassador’s contributions to strengthening the friendship and comprehensive relations between Vietnam – Cambodia over the past three years.

Speaking at the event, Nga lauded the diplomat for his tireless dedication to the Vietnam – Cambodia ties. The political ties have been ceaselessly strengthened while the ties in economy, trade, culture, education, defense-security have improved. The two countries’ two-way trade value reached USD 4.7 billion last year and is expected to reach USD 7 – 8 billion by 2020.

The two countries successfully organized the Vietnam – Cambodia and Cambodia – Vietnam Friendship Year 2017, the celebration of the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (June 24, 2017), and the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Southwest border protection war (January 7, 2019). People-to-people exchange has also been strengthened, she said.

Nga expressed her belief that in any position, the Cambodian ambassador will make further contributions to bilateral traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership.

For his part, Prak Nguon Hong thanked the VUFO and the Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Association for their support during his term in Vietnam. He affirmed that in his future position, he would try his best to contribute to expanding the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
