Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a letter of congratulation to the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - India diplomatic relations, the 10th anniversary of Vietnam - India strategic partnership (July 6, 2007-2017) and the VIFA's 35th founding anniversary (November 11, 1982-2017). In his congratulation letter, the PM stressed that Vietnam and India have a time-honored traditional relationship, which was founded by the two great leaders, President Ho Chi Minh and PM Jawaharlal Nehru, and that traditional relationship has been constantly developing through the two nations’ cause for national salvation construction and defense.

Over the past 45 years, the bilateral relations have been increasingly reinforced and developed. Especially, the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations during the Indian PM's official visit to Vietnam in September 2016 was a practical example. These resulted from great efforts of generations of leaders and members of the VIFA, the PM stressed.

The same day, the VIFA organized the 3rd National Representative Congress for the 2016-2021 tenure and elected a new executive committee with 53 members. Minister of Information and Communication Truong Minh Tuan was elected as the Chairman of the VIFA in the 2016-2021 tenure. The association also received a certificate of merit from the PM for their great contributions to developing the friendship between the two countries.
