Vietnam pocketed 268.5 million EUR from shipping 27.7 million pairs of shoes to Spain in 2013, ranking second among footwear suppliers to this European nation.
The figures represented an increase of 11 percent in volume and a decrease of 1.1 percent in value as compared to those of 2012, according to Spanish Footwear Producers Federation (FICE) statistics.
For many years (except 2011), Vietnam has been the second footwear exporter of Spain, only after China.
Last year, Spain imported 329 million pair of shoes worth 2.07 billion EUR, up 3.7 percent in volume and 0.9 percent in turnover year-on-year. It exported 134.8 million pairs, reaping 2.26 billion EUR, up 1.9 percent in volume and 10.3 percent in value.
Spain’s key footwear importers include France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, the UK, the US, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Japan.
