Head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh speaks at the event. |
Sharing his view, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung highlighted that the Vietnamese energy industry has recorded significant achievements, meeting energy demands, especially electricity for national socio-economic development and defense-security. The Vietnamese energy sector has grown into a large-scale industry with dynamic growth and further integration into the world.
Addressing the event, Mr. Binh underscored the core and pioneering role of the energy sector in national socio-economic development in the period of national industrialization and modernization.
He also added that the energy sector in general and the electricity industry in particular has undergone rapid development in recent years, and completed all set targets.
However, the sector is still facing a number of shortcomings and weaknesses. The national energy security goal is facing many challenges, with domestic supply unable to meet demands. Many power projects have been behind schedule.
At present, the government is conducting development strategies, tasked by the Politburo outlined in Resolution No.55-NQ/TW, for the energy sector and the electricity adhered to the resolution.
Furthermore, within the framework of the summit, several energy projects were signed, including gas power plants in the provinces of Ninh Thuan and Thua Thien - Hue, and offshore wind power farm in Binh Thuan province, etc.
