PV Gas ranked 16th on the list while its parent company PetroVietnam continues to be among the three largest enterprises in Vietnam in 2020. This is the tenth consecutive year that PetroVietnam has been at the top of the rankings. The two other top three businesses are Samsung Electronics Thai Nguyen Co. Ltd., and Vietnam Electricity (EVN).

This is also the 14th consecutive year that the VNR500 Ranking has been published to help build and promote the prestige and trade brands of local businesses.

Other oil and gas businesses on the list include Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited (BSR) (ranking 11th), PVOIL (15th), Vietsovpetro (28th), PVEP (39th), and PV Power (40th).

All industries in the VNR500 rankings in 2020 have enjoyed turnover growth. The average turnover growth rate of all the industries on the list reached 12.52%. Some industries have had double-digit turnover growth.

According to a survey conducted by the JSC in October 2020, 24.4% of the surveyed enterprises assessed that their production and business activities in the first nine months of this year increased compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, 36.6% and 39% of the surveyed enterprises sustained and decreased their production and business activities, respectively.

In the first nine months of this year, 41.5% of enterprises saw a drop in turnover, while 43.9% of enterprises enjoyed an increase in turnover. Only 14.6% of enterprises said they had no change. 

Facing many difficulties this year, PetroVietnam still gained profits in the first ten months of this year. The group’s turnover is estimated to reach VND 464,5 trillion, or 83% of its plan. It is expected to contribute VND 58.3 trillion to the State budget, or 86% of the set plan.

A ceremony to officially announce the VNR500 rankings in 2020 is slated for January 8, 2020 in Hanoi.
