Mocha – Viettel’s free SMS application
PANO - After five months of being developed and tested, the Military-run Telecoms Group Viettel in April 2015 launched its Mocha Messenger application – the first OTT app of Viettel that provides an access to free Internet-based calling and messaging services between its subscribers.

Accordingly, Viettel has deployed its app in Vietnam, Laos, East Timor, Haiti, Mozambique and Tanzania, and attracted tens of millions of users and this app is always listed among the top 20 free apps of Android.
In fact, Mocha is not only an OTT messaging app but also a platform for integrating telecommunications gadgets, creating added value for users and increasing profits for Viettel.
In addition to sending text messages, this application also supplies voice stickers feature that includes sounds and pictures; and “listening to music together” feature, allowing different users to listen to a song at the same time. Mocha users can also read news, listen to music, and watch video through this app. With the SMS feature, Mocha users have 5 free SMS per day to send messages to Viettel subscribers who do not install Mocha. This is one of the important strategies of Viettel to attract more members for Mocha.
After launching for nearly 2 years in Vietnam and other five international markets, Mocha has become one of the most useful solutions for telecom operators while SMS revenues continue decreasing due to the rapid development of OTT applications.
