Vietnamese pianist wins first prize at int’l piano contest
PANO - Pianist Pham Le Phuong, aged 12, from the Vietnam National Academy of Music, has bagged home a first prize at the Mozart International Piano Competition held in Thailand.

This year’s competition drew the participation of pianists from China, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and the host Thailand.
The contestants competed in four age categories of 7-9, 10-12, 13-17 and 18-24.
Despite her young age, Phuong registered to compete in the 18-24 age category. At the final round, she left deep impression on the jury thanks to her outstanding performance of the work “Mozart concerto No 23 in A major”.
