Vietnamese pianist wins first prize at int’l competition
PANO - Pianist Luu Duc Anh has won the first prize in the 19-30 year-old category at the sixth Stockholm International Music Competition from May 25 to 28.
The contest drew the participation of nearly 300 pianists from various countries, including Russia, Germany, China, the US, Norway and the host Sweden, competing in five different age groups.
Anh is a student of Malmo Music Academy in Sweden. In Vietnam, he was trained by Professor, Doctor and People’s Artist Tran Thu Ha and Associate Professor, Doctor and Eminent Artist Luu Quang Minh.
As one of the young Vietnamese talents, this 24-year-old pianist has competed in different prestigious international competitions and won a number of prizes.
In 2015, he was among the top five students selected from the Liege Academy to join the Classic Academy contest held by the Liege Symphony Orchestra.
Last year, he pocketed a first prize at the Andree Charlier contest organized in Belgium.
