Vietnamese painter sets a world record
PANO - Painter Doan Viet Tien of Vietnam drew 12 lacquer paintings in the reverse direction on tempered glass, setting a new world record on June 30 in a program specially designed for him by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Firm.
A representative of the World Record Union (Worldkings) witnessed and recognized Tien’s records.
Tien left a strong impression on the audience and the Worldkings’ representative when using ten fingers to paint 12 paintings in the reverse direction in just 6 minutes and 28 seconds, shorter than the time set for a record of 15 minutes.
These abstract paintings of different contents and lay-outs were drawn on 75x75cm glass panels.

Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, Vice President of Worldkings, was deeply impressed by Tien’s paintings, saying that they are among the most impressive and beautiful records he has witnessed.
Setting a world record, Tien, of course, also set a Vietnam’s record. He has three times set a Vietnam record. They were in 2005, 2018 and 2019. Also in 2005, he was named the first-ever painter using fingers to draw paintings on glass.
Also at the performance, painter Tien displayed his nearly 50 other typical lacquer paintings in reverse on tempered glass.
Painter Doan Viet Tien, 58, is a native of the southern province of Ben Tre. He has drawn more than 1,000 paintings of the same kind.
