Vietnamese film honored at Eurasia Int’l Film Festival
The film, “Dao cua dan ngu cu” ("The Island of Aliens" or "The Way Station") by Director Hong Anh was honored with the Special Jury Prize at the Eurasia International Film Festival 2017, which ended in Kazakhstan on July 28.
The Way Station was honored with the “Best film” Award and also won “Best Actor” Award for Pham Hong Phuoc and “Best Director of Photography” Award for People’s Artist Ly Thai Dung at the ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (AIFFA Award) 2017 in Malaysia in May. It was also screened at the Vietnam Night in the 70th Cannes Film Festival.
Director Hong Anh receives the Special Jury Prize at the Eurasia International Film Festival.
The movie is adapted from Writer Do Phuoc Tien’s story titled “Dao cua dan ngu cu” (The Island of Aliens) depicting the confusion and uncertainty of the characters in their journey to look for happiness and the meaning of life.
The Way Station will be released in cinemas throughout the country in this fall.
The Eurasia International Film Festival was established in 1998 in Kazakhstan. It is the major film forum in Central Asia accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). The festival’s main goals are to support film industry in Kazakhstan, to further the appreciation of motion picture arts for people of all ages, and to build the platform for successful cooperation between Asia and Europe.
