Five Vietnamese boxers were sent to compete in the 5th AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships, held in Ningbo City, China from November 22-29.
In the 54kg category, Nguyen Thi Hue beat rivals from Indonesia and the Philippines in the preliminaries. However, she had to stop in the 1/16 round after being beaten by Chen Chia-Ling from Chinese Taipei.
The 5th AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships drew 237 boxers from 42 countries and territories. Russia and Ukraine are the largest squads with the participation of 13 athletes, followed by Kazakhstan with 12 athletes, Turkey with 11 and Canada and Democratic People's Republic of Korea with 10 each.
