While many traditionally traveled to Phu Tho, the tradition has recently spread. Cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho have established memorial sites with symbolic soil and water from the original temple. Overseas Vietnamese have also built dedicated temples. Assoc. Pro., Dr. Pham Ngoc Trung noted this demonstrates Vietnam’s deep roots while strengthening national confidence.

Since UNESCO recognized the Worship of the Hung Kings as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the tradition has gained international acclaim. Unlike many global traditions, the Hung Kings are revered as common ancestors rather than just rulers. Their temple complex is now preserved as a special national relic site.

To promote these values today, Trung emphasized renewing education through digitization. Multilingual historical materials shared via modern platforms can help younger generations and international audiences access heritage easily, fostering pride and responsibility.

He also stressed preserving the spiritual landscape of the Hung Kings Temple. Its value lies in the harmony of nature and ancient architecture rather than grand new structures. Protecting this solemn environment is essential to maintaining the site’s sacred character.

Regarding the 2026 administrative expansion, he said merging Phu Tho with Hoa Binh and Vinh Phuc creates geographic and economic advantages. Improved infrastructure will facilitate ritual participation and regional development. However, the merger requires coordination to manage diverse economic conditions and public awareness. Resources must be prioritized for sites related to Hung Kings worship.

Trung concluded that “remembering the source” must be a genuine source of pride for youth. This requires creative educational content, including films and storytelling, to integrate heritage with family values. Such efforts ensure the tradition remains a natural, lasting source of national pride.
