PANO – A ceremony to mark the 715th death anniversary of Tran Hung Dao (Supreme Commander of Vietnam during the Tran Dynasty) took place in Tran Thuong Temple in Nhan Dao commune, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province on October 2nd.
At the ceremony, the participants were briefed on the life and career of Tran Hung Dao (or Tran Quoc Tuan, born in 1228). Tran Quoc Tuan was then assigned to command troops to fight against the first, second, and third Mongol invasions in 1258, 1285, and 1288, respectively. Under his command, the troops and people of the Tran Dynasty defeated the Mongol invasions in such famous battles as: Chuong Duong, Ham Tu, Tay Ket, Van Kiep, and the historic Bach Dang.
He died at the age of 73.
This year’s festival includes cultural activities with various rituals.
The same day, Nam Dinh City People’s Committee launched Tran Temple Traditional Festival 2015, and offered incense in commemoration of Tran Hung Dao at Tran Cultural Relic in the locality.
