Son Tay town hosts first int’l hot air balloon festival
PANO - The People’s Committee of Son Tay town and relevant units kicked off the first international hot air balloon festival 2022 on November 13 at the town’s stadium.
The event is part of activities to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the ancient Son Tay Citadel (1822-2022).
Accordingly, the event features various activities, including watching and experiencing flying up on five large-sized hot air balloons, and taking photos, among others. The balloons are under the control of professional pilots from England, the U.S., Belgium and Portugal.
During the festival, the free flights start at 6:00, each flight carries two or three passengers for 45 minutes at an altitude of 300-500 meters.
Other flights taking visitors sightseeing the ancient Son Tay Citadel open from 17:00 to 19:00 every day. Each flight carries three to four passengers for five minutes at an altitude of 20-30 meters.
According to Vice Chairman of the Son Tay town People’s Committee Le Dai Thang, the hot air balloon festival is seen as a practical activity, creating a new tourism product to attract more tourists and restore the town’s tourism activities in a proactive, adaptive, and flexible manner in the new context.
In the first day of the festival, a large number of local people and tourist flocked to the event.
