The event aims to honor lotus, popularize its cultural and economic values, strengthen lotus-based economies and tourism, and shape the locality’s specific characters, contributing to local socio-economic development.

According to the organizers, the event will take place from May 16 to 19 to mark the 134th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - 2024). The festival features an international seminar on lotus, an exhibition highlighting values of lotus-related products and OCOP (one commune, one product) products, mural painting at schools, and ceremony to announce the first batch of lotus-related exports to Japan, among others.

During the event, the organizing panel plans to build the largest map of Vietnam using lotus and showcase 66,000 lotus pots of 57 varieties arranged in a beautiful layout.

Notably, during this year’s event, festivalgoers also have the opportunity to join a trekking tour to discover Tram Chim National Park located in Tam Nong district. A street carnival will be held with the participation of 5,500 women in the Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional long dresses) parading on the streets.

The first batch of lotus-related products exported to Japan

Deputy Party Secretary and Chairman of the Dong Thap provincial People’s Committee Pham Thien Nghia said that through the festival, the organizers would like to popularize local culture and tourism and its potential for strengthening lotus-related economy. It is also to offer an opportunity for both domestic and foreign businesses and traders of lotus-related products to exchange and to develop the lotus-related industry to be on par with its position and potential.
