PANO – Various objects and artifacts, such as bronze drums, working tools, weapons, household utensils, musical instruments and jewelries of Dong Son residents are on display at an exhibition, themed “Dong Son Culture”, opened on November 18th in Hanoi.

These items have been excavated over the past 90 years since 1924, when the site of the ancient civilization was first discovered in Dong Son village, Ham Rong ward, central province of Thanh Hoa. 

The exhibits, such as axes, knives, shovels, spades, and ploughshares give viewers a deep insight into the life of Dong Son residents and the ancient society dating back thousand years ago as well as affirm the diversification and attraction of the ancient culture.

The excavated items also help present generations learn more about the formation of Van Lang-Au Lac State, and Dong Son’s civilization which played an important role in the history of the nation. Besides, a collection of bronze items contribute to viewers’ understanding of the high technical skill in bronze casting of people in the period.

Jointly organised by the Vietnam National Museum of History and Museums of Hanoi, Hung Yen, Lao Cai, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa and Yen Bai province, the event will run until April 2015.
