Hanoi Citadel in the past |
This was part of the activities to mark the 15th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day, which falls on November 23.
The exhibition comprising two parts, namely “The Nguyen dynasty with Thang Long-Hanoi” and “French people with the Hanoians,” showcases nearly 100 documents, maps, paintings, and photos which vividly reflect changes in Hanoi from 1802 to 1945.
Items, such as a map of the Hanoi Citadel drawn in the 1821-1831 period and photos of the Northern, Eastern, Western, and Southern Gate of the citadel, attracted special attention of the visitors. Notably, it is the first time that official documents from the Nguyen Dynasty have been introduced at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
These valuable documents help the public and historians learn more about the influence of the Nguyen Dynasty and French colonial style on the Hanoi Citadel.
