Jointly organized by the Vietnam Museum of Military History, the Museum of the People’s Public Security, the Military Library and the late general’s family, the exhibition is to honor great contributions of General Vo Nguyen Giap to the revolutionary cause of the Party and people of Vietnam.

The event is also held to help troops in the whole military and people learn more about the life and career of the Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People's Army, thus encouraging them to fulfill their assigned missions to contribute to the national construction and defense cause.
More than 200 displayed photos, documents and items at the event are divided into four parts.
The first part, themed “By the Kien Giang River,” is about General Vo Nguyen Giap’s hometown and family traditions that molded his patriotism and revolutionary virtues, while exhibits in the second one focus on reflecting the general’s revolutionary career in different periods.
The third part of the exhibition, themed “A Legendary General,” showcases photos, documents and artifacts, featuring the significant role and contribution of the Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People’s Army General Vo Nguyen Giap to the national salvation, construction and defense cause. The last part features daily life of General Vo Nguyen Giap and highlights his sentiment for the people, comrades and international friends.
The event also introduces items related to the life and career of the Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People’s Army, including a pistol, President Ho Chi Minh’s Decree 110-SL on the conferment of the general rank on Vo Nguyen Giap, and a Gold Star Order conferred on the general, among others.
